Is your business doing everything it can to limit its exposure to sexual harassment claims? Sexual harassment is a form of discrimination that violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which applies to all employers with 15 or more employees. According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, sexual harassment is defined as “unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature … when this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual’s employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual’s work performance, or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment.”
In the wake of 2017’s #MeToo movement, awareness of the negative effects of sexual harassment in the workplace has been growing, and laws at the state and national level have been changing. Sexual harassment doesn’t just destroy productivity and morale—employers can also face serious liability if they don’t act to prevent discrimination in the workplace. Increasingly, companies in every industry are acting to protect their employees and themselves through prevention, by instituting sexual harassment prevention training.
Las Vegas, a global leader in the hospitality industry, isn’t just a vacation destination for Americans and international visitors drawn by its gambling, luxury hotels, nightlife, entertainment, fine dining, and shopping. It’s also one of the top destinations for business conventions and the most populous city in Nevada.
Unfortunately, the hospitality industry includes a number of factors that can put workers at higher risk for harassment: significant power disparities in the workplace, compensation tied to customer satisfaction or client service, alcohol consumption, and/or physically isolated work environments. Though Nevada does not mandate sexual harassment prevention training for private businesses, wise employers aren’t waiting for a legal requirement before they take action.
Bridge Training Consultants understands the importance of effective sexual harassment prevention training in creating a safe, productive company culture with mutually understood standards for appropriate conduct. While our trainings are designed to meet some of the most rigorous legal requirements in the nation, they’re not simply about checking a compliance box. The Bridge Consulting team’s Has been valuable and I want to reiterate – that group is exceptional!
All I want to say is WOW, Richard was absolutely amazing and what a great job he did. He trained 759 People Yesterday
The employees have not stopped approaching me to let me know that this was the best training that they have ever had.
They said they were dreading this 1 Hour training, but how the time flew due to the Conversations/Teachings, as well as the interactions he had with the team during this training.
Thank you... Brenda did a great job of keeping the employees engaged throughout the entire training, and mixing demonstrations and stories to explain all the concepts. Both the Spanish and English trainings were wonderful. I thought this was much more effective than the video trainings or in-house trainings we have done in the past.
Richard's training was once again fantastic! He really does an excellent job of keeping the group engaged throughout the training. I'm always amazed at how many compliments I get on the training after. In fact, our CEO joined the first training on Tuesday 9/15 just to compliment Richard on his presentation and how much he got out of it last year. Thank you again!
Your training was the best we have ever had - on any topic! It's because the trainer kept people engaged and interested, and they learned much more than usual.
